FHE ADVENUS 2013
Sauvignon Blanc Viognier
Notes: The only white wine in this collection. 100% coastal Waiheke single parcel wine from the Expatrius headland vineyard on Waiheke's south eastern coast. Sandy (23%) blond loam steep coastal quartz clays in a breezy SW channel combined with meticulous manual viticulture create a wine of texture, poise and enduring intensity. This is a harmonious and distinctive expression of the "migrant" (Advenus) Sauvignon Blanc with a splash of Viognier. Barrel fermented and aged for 5 years before release.
Cellar at 13-15 ºC. Drink: 2016 – 2021.
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc / Viognier
Region: Waiheke Island, New Zealand
Accolades: 90 points Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
92/100 - Cameron Douglas MS. Complex and interesting, integrated and developing bouquet with aromas of preserved lemon and peach, baked apple and yellow flowers, some mineral and lees complexities with a floral moment. Very nice on the palate with a coarse silk texture preceding flavours of lemongrass and hay, preserved lemon and peach. Good structure with a lively acid line and a leesy floral savoury finish. Great drinking today and through end of 2022.
93/100 - Bob Campbell MW. Sauvignon blanc with a splash of viognier from a very favourable Waiheke vintage. Remarkably bright, fresh wine with layers of tropical fruit and citrus carried by a hint of sweetness that's matched by a refreshing cut of ripe acidity. An intriguing wine.
